Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plan Template

Districts and schools are required by Ohio law to create a Reading Improvement and Monitoring Plan (RIMP) within 60 days of receiving the reading diagnostic results for any student in grades K-3 who is not on-track (reading below grade level). The RIMP must continue throughout the student’s K-12 academic career until the student is reading proficiently for their current grade level. The Department has developed a RIMP template for the 2024-2025 school year to help districts and schools communicate with parents about their child’s reading difficulties, instructional supports, and plan for monitoring progress.

Districts may opt to use the template and are encouraged to modify the template to meet the needs of their students and communities. Districts are not required to use the Department-developed template.
