Welcome to the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge

The Team Tressel Fitness Challenge is more than a school-based activity - it's a statewide movement to teach and inspire Ohio's next generation of leaders. The challenge helps students build lifelong habits around fitness, healthy eating, and sleep and lays the foundation for a brighter future by improving students physical and mental health.

The challenge is:

  • Student-led and designed to build self-discipline and confidence
  • Flexible and wide-ranging, with activities that work for every ability level
  • Built to last, with future challenges planned

Students in grades 3-8 are eligible to participate.

How it Works

Students receive workbooks that guide them through a 30-day challenge that schools can incorporate when it best fits their schedule. During the challenge, students focus on five activity groups—cardio, strength, flexibility, nutrition, and sleep—working through Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels to become a Healthy Habits Champion.

At each level, students choose activity groups to focus on, set SMART goals, and track their progress for a set number of days. At the end of each level, students reflect on their progress, with an emphasis on mindfulness and gratitude.

Who Can Participate

Any public, private, or community school student in Ohio has the option to participate if their school opts in. Homeschool students also may participate.

The challenge is designed with flexibility in mind, so students may complete it before, during, or after school, so schools may take a more active role if desired.

Schools who participated in previous challenges are automatically opted in to the fall challenge and do not need to sign up again.

How to get Involved

Parents, family members, and community organizations are encouraged to participate in the challenge and support students and schools as they work toward their goals.
