Ohio High School Outcomes
Project Overview
The Ohio High School Outcomes is a set of two Tableau-based reports on the DataOhio Portal exploring how Ohio high school graduates progress during the six years after graduation. Using real‑world data reported by schools, colleges, and employers, it provides reliable measures of college enrollment, college completion, employment, and earnings. Users can explore these outcomes at the state, region, district, school, and career‑technical planning district (CTPD) levels.
This resource can support local and regional planning for career‑technical education and other pathways, enables benchmarking against comparable districts and programs, and informs analyses of return on educational investments.
The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce developed the reports in partnership with the Department of Job and Family Services and the Ohio Education Research Center at The Ohio State University.

Important User Notes
- The Ohio High School Outcomes are an informational resource, not a formal accountability tool. Data are not district-reported, and probabilistic matching is used in linkages across data sets.
- Some measures may differ from similar published measures due to differences in data and calculation methods. Notably, these results herein will not align with measures based on districts surveying their graduates, such as the CTE Post-Program Outcomes (6-month follow-up) and the Ohio School Report Card Postsecondary Pathways (1-year follow-up).
- Employment and earnings measures are currently limited to Ohio employers covered by the state’s unemployment insurance (UI) program. Graduation cohort members working outside Ohio, or in jobs not covered by Ohio UI, currently are not represented.
Future Enhancements
- Updates will incorporate data from Ohio Technical Centers, which enroll more than 2,000 individuals from each cohort in the years following high school graduation.
- To help capture employment outside of Ohio, future updates will seek to include State Wage Interchange System (SWIS) data, available for career-technical education participants.
- As Ohio modernizes its industry-recognized credential system, future updates will incorporate credential information. Industry-recognized credential data is currently available in the Department of Education and Workforce’s Reports Portal.
- Through the Military Enlistment Data Access to Lift Student Success (MEDALS) program, updates will include military enlistment data for recent cohorts of high school graduates.
