Waiver for Gifted Education Services

A district may request a temporary waiver to address unique circumstances that prevent it, for a limited period of time, from reaching full compliance with particular provisions of the Operating Standards for Identifying and Serving Students Who are Gifted, Ohio Administrative Code 3301-51-15. By providing detailed information about the waiver request, service settings, and a plan for compliance, districts can ensure that they continue to support the educational needs of gifted students while working towards full compliance with state regulations.

School districts may submit temporary gifted education service waiver applications for consideration only for the settings and scenarios outlined in the waiver application. To submit a waiver application for consideration, complete the form below. Completed waiver applications should be signed by the Superintendent or their designee and submitted to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce at gifted@education.ohio.gov. If approved, the waiver will be effective for the specified time period only.
