What are the advantages for veterans participating in the Ohio Troops to Teachers program?
Ohio offers licensure pathways to veterans holding a bachelor’s degree (2.5 GPA or above) or a high school diploma and five years of documented work experience. In recent years, Ohio passed legislation that increases starting pay for teachers, provides immediate in-state tuition rates to relocating veterans and family members, and waives the fees for initial and renewal licensure for veterans. Finally, the Department issues vouchers to eligible participants that cover the costs of the Ohio Assessments for Educators (an exam that is required for obtaining an Ohio teaching license).
