SkillBridge

The SkillBridge program provides active duty service members with the opportunity to gain valuable civilian work experience during their last 180 days of military service. Through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships, SkillBridge connects transitioning service members with real-world job experiences offered by industry partners. Interested service members should apply through their base’s education office.

The Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE) is a SkillBridge provider that supports service members by facilitating internship placements in education settings. Interested applicants can list SOCHE as their SkillBridge provider in their application. Contact Cassie Barlow for more information.

OMVEP Supports

The Department of Education and Workforce is not a SkillBridge provider, but can assist service members interested in a career in education through the Ohio Military Veteran Educators Program (OMVEP). These supports can be used during a SkillBridge internship. Contact OhioMVEP@education.ohio.gov for more information.    

Ohio Schools

Schools and districts can benefit from hosting a SkillBridge internship. SkillBridge interns can work up to 180 days at no cost to the school or district, as their salary and benefits are paid by the military. Interested schools and districts should contact SOCHE for information on SkillBridge placement.
