Students of military families can face moving schools six to nine times during a service person's career. These students also face separation from deployments that can last months to years. Schools can use the following links to learn more about ways Ohio supports military-connected students:  

• Identification of Military-Connected Students contains information to assist schools with the process of identifying military-connected students and reporting requirements.  
• Enrolling New Students in Active-Duty Families contains enrollment options that districts are required to provide to active-duty families in transition. 
• Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children assists military-connected students with enrollment, placement, eligibility, and graduation when transitioning to a new school. 
• Purple Star Designation is earned by schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. Award requirements and application information is listed on this site. 
• All-Ohio U.S. Armed Forces Career Commitment Celebration is an annual celebration of students from across the state that commit themselves to serving in the United States military. 
• Supporting Military Career Pathways and Military Recruiters provides information on how schools can partner with military representatives to explore military career paths.  
• Junior Reserve Office Training Corps (JROTC) lists information and locations of JROTC programs across the state and contains resources on how to apply for a JROTC program.
