Educator Evaluation Process Review
The temporary changes in House Bill 197, House Bill 164 and House Bill 404 of the 133rd General Assembly impact teacher, principal and school counselor evaluations. These changes, made in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, grant districts flexibility around educator evaluations for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years.
For more information, please see Education Evaluation Systems Guide for Restart.
The Educator Evaluation Process Review is in effect statewide to support school districts in implementing educator evaluations. The department will conduct an annual review to ensure the districts are conducting evaluations with accuracy. Each Ohio district will participate in a review once every four years.

Self-Assessment Inventory Tool
This tool is an optional resource designed to help districts assess both their compliance with state regulations, as well as how well they are carrying out their evaluation systems. The Ohio Department of Education recommends that each principal completes the tool and that the superintendent or his or her designee compiles the results into a comprehensive self-analysis. In the next suggested step, teams and individual staff members will review the results, thus promoting ongoing conversations about improving their local process.
