How to Determine Which License is Required
Schools and districts are responsible for determining which license is required for an educator’s employment, based on Ohio law1 (as reflected in EMIS staff reporting procedures). Schools and districts with questions regarding requirements for EMIS reporting should consult with their EMIS coordinators and the EMIS manual. Schools and districts with questions regarding requirements for licensure should consult with the Office of Educator Licensure. The Department provides the following resources to assist schools and districts with making this determination.
