Release of Spring 2022 Test Items

Released items from the spring 2022 Ohio’s State Tests are now available in the Ohio’s State Tests portal. The items give educators insight into the kinds of questions students experienced and are a useful tool to inform classroom instruction and assessment. Both teachers and parents can use the items to help students know what to expect.

Included with items in the release are the associated learning standard(s) and the scoring guides. The scoring guides contain answer keys, scoring rubrics, sample student responses and notes on scoring and rationales that describe why response options are correct or incorrect. The scoring guides also contain information about Depth of Knowledge (DOK) for mathematics, ELA, and social studies and Cognitive Demand (CD) for science.

Summer Testing

Results: Results for the summer tests are available in the Centralized Reporting System (CRS) on the following dates:

  • Grade 3 English language arts online results on Aug. 5.
  • Grade 3 English language arts paper results on Aug. 12.
  • High school English language arts online results on Aug. 17.
  • Grade 3 English language arts late batch results on Aug. 23.

Rescore and Verification Window: A district can submit a rescore request in TIDE if it believes a student’s score does not reflect expected student achievement. There is a $25 charge for processing rescore requests unless the rescore results in a score change.

A district can submit a verification request (no charge) if the following applies:
  1. The district believes the student tested and did not receive a score or
  2. The district believes a score was incorrectly assigned to a student who took a paper test.
Review the Rescores and Verifications Guidance document for instructions. Requests may be placed in TIDE through Sept. 16.

Fall Grade 3 English Language Arts Tests

Test Window: Fall grade 3 English language arts is Oct. 17-Nov. 4.

Grade 3 On-time Order Window: The on-time order window will be open in TIDE Aug. 17-23. All orders are subject to Department approval. District test coordinators will do the following steps in TIDE under the “Paper Orders Grade 3 Fall 2022” administration task to receive on-time materials.

  1. Confirm contact information and shipping address under the Contact Info Task. Districts who wish to update their shipping addresses must contact the Ohio Help Desk at 877-231-7809 to request a change.

  2. Indicate the UPS pickup date for grade 3 ELA test materials in the Supplemental Information task in TIDE.

    • If districts do not know their pickup date, leave the date blank, and click [SAVE]. Districts will then need to schedule a UPS pick-up following the instructions in Section 4.5.2.2 of the Supplemental Instructions for Paper Testing manual that will be received with the district’s on-time materials.

  3. Access the Search for Orders section.

    • Districts with a Board Resolution must click [SAVE] in the Search Orders screen to receive one test booklet for each grade 3 student preidentified in TIDE as of Aug. 23. The test booklet count shown on the “Board Resolution – Grade 3 ELA Test Booklets” is updated each night.

    • Districts that are testing online will order one test booklet for each of their students with a paper accommodation on the “Accommodation – Grade 3 ELA Test Booklets” line, click [SAVE], and enter a reason for the requested materials.

  4. In order to receive printed Pre-ID labels, districts must complete the above steps and must Pre-ID their grade 3 students with a test mode of “P” by Tuesday, Aug. 23 under the “Ohio State Tests 2022-2023” administration.
