The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce is seeking individuals to serve as volunteer reviewers of assessments for gifted student prescreening and identification. Individuals selected will review applications submitted by vendors seeking inclusion on the 2026-2027 List of Approved Assessments. Reviews will be conducted online and include both individual review of submissions and meeting virtually with a consensus group.

Who: The Department is seeking those with expertise in gifted education and identification of children from kindergarten through grade 12. Reviewers may be teachers (kindergarten through grade 12), administrators, higher education faculty, school psychologists, or others with professional experience in teaching and assessing gifted students. Reviewers will be selected based on programmatic expertise and experience. 
 
Applications Due: December 5, 2025
 
Required Qualifications:

• A degree, certification, or licensure in gifted education OR experience in assessing students for gifted identification and interpreting results
• A background in educational psychology

Availability: Reviewers must be available to review applications for a period of approximately two consecutive weeks in January 2026. Selected reviewers must also attend a one-hour online reviewer training and will need to attend several online consensus meetings with other reviewers. More information on a finalized schedule will be provided later.
 
Conflict of Interest and Nondisclosure: After being selected to serve as a reviewer, each individual will be required to complete conflict-of-interest and nondisclosure forms.
 
Application for Reviewers: Those interested in applying to be a reviewer should complete the Application for Reviewers for Gifted Assessments. The application period is open through December 5, 2025. Applicants should expect to receive notification concerning their applications the week of December 8.
