HSE (High School Equivalency) Testing Centers

Please contact the testing center for availability and testing capacity prior to scheduling your test. In addition, verify all testing protocols including, but not limited to, wearing  a face mask.

Attention Testers: 

  • Reminder: All test takers for the GED® or HiSET must be an Ohio Resident.
  • Test takers who are 16 and 17 years of age must supply a signed and notarized consent form and current year withdrawal form signed by a school official to: State of Ohio HSE Office – Department of Education & Workforce – 25 S. Front Street, MS 622, Columbus, Ohio 43215
  • Test takers who are 18 years of age must supply a current year withdrawal form signed by a school official to: State of Ohio HSE Office – Department of Education & Workforce – 25 S. Front Street, MS 622, Columbus, Ohio 43215
  • Before you schedule your HSE test date, you must apply first, schedule, include the voucher code, and pay for the test.
  • Voucher codes are available for first time test takers only. The voucher code must be used for the first subtest only (GED and HiSET).
  • Ohio offers two testing vendors: GED® and HiSET.

Ohio HSE Testing Centers

Applicants who are age 16 and 17 will still need to complete a Consent Form in order to take the official test. Applicants who are 18 years of age must submit a copy of the current official withdrawal form signed by a school official.   Submit by mail the original notarized signed form(s) to the State of Ohio HSE Office so that your age alert on your application can be approved.

Congratulations on your decision to take the High School Equivalence Exam! Like a regular high school diploma, you can use your high school equivalence diploma to apply for jobs and promotions, to pursue a college degree or to reach your own personal goal.

The High School Equivalence (HSE) office now offers two options for testing: GED® and HiSET.
