Ohio’s State Tests in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies (OST)

Each school district chooses a consecutive series of school days to administer state tests within specified windows, or periods of time.

FALL 2023 Test Administration windows

Test Dates
  • Fall Grade 3 English language arts: Oct. 16-Nov. 3, 2023
    • Five consecutive school days, including makeup
  • Printed family reports for Grade 3 English language arts are due in districts on January 22, 2024.

Ohio English Language Proficiency Screener (OELPS)

Test Dates
  • OELPS: Aug. 2, 2023-June 28, 2024
  • OELPS for the Beginning of Kindergarten (OELPS-BK):
    • Aug. 2-Dec.31, 2023 (for kindergarten students screened on or before Dec. 31, 2023 of school year 2023-2024)
    • May 28-June 28, 2024 (early window for students beginning kindergarten in school year 2024-2025; not for students enrolled in preschool)
  • OELPS for Kindergarten (OELPS-K): Jan. 1-June 28, 2024 (for kindergarten students screened on or after Jan. 1, 2024 of school year 2023-2024)
Results available for Districts
  • OELPS Results: After submitting the OELPS and scoring any responses in the Teacher Assessment Scoring Center (TASC), results are available in the Centralized Reporting System (CRS) within 2-3 hours.
