Written Education Plans (WEPs) for Gifted Students

A Written Education Plan assists educators in implementing gifted services that support a student’s particular strengths, interests, and challenges. Any student who receives gifted services will have a Written Education Plan. Ohio Administrative Code 3301-51-15 specifies the process to create Written Education Plans and lists the elements that must be included on the plan. The following documents have been designed to assist school districts in creating and implementing Written Education Plans.

  • Model Written Education Plan - The Model Written Education Plan was designed as a template to assist districts and educators in developing Written Education Plans.

  • Written Education Plan Instruction Sheet - This document explains the Model Written Education Plan template, including required components as well as suggested practices for districts and educators to consider.

  • Checklist to Evaluate Local Written Education Plan - This document describes the specific components that must be included on a written education plan. Districts can use the checklist to ensure their locally developed plans include all of the required components.
