The Ohio Department of Education is announcing the federal Charter Schools Program for fiscal year 2018.
On February 10, 2017, you received a memorandum that contained inaccurate information about Ohio’s plans to no longer allow families to cite reasons of conscience for declining immunizations. The purpose of this memorandum is to clarify how the Ohio Department of Education, in close coordination with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, will address reasons of conscience over the coming months
Building on prior successful partnerships to promote early brain and language development and early STEM education, today, the U.S. Departments of Education and Health and Human Services are joining with Too Small to Fail to release a Fostering Healthy Social and Emotional Development in Young Children Toolkit on social and emotional development. All of the resources feature examples of simple actions to take, some of which caregivers might be doing already, such as maintaining consistent routines for young children.
Preschool and school age child care programs that the Ohio Department of Education oversees will use a new program licensing and quality rating system beginning on Monday, Jan. 30.
The new system allows external users to control and maintain who in their organization has access. To be ready for the Jan. 30 launch, please set up roles now for those in your district or school who work with these programs. Click here for instructions.
For general questions regarding the new system or setting OEDS roles, please contact the Office of Early Learning and School Readiness at (614) 752-1151 or or email OELSR.firstname.lastname@example.org for preschool or SACC licensing role questions or SUTQ@education.ohio.gov for Step Up To Quality role questions.
