EMIS Update: Data Appeal/Review & Verification – September 12, 2022

9/12/2022

FY23 CTE Concentrator Appeal Open
From Monday, Sept. 12 through Friday, Oct. 7, superintendents of traditional districts, community schools, STEM schools, and joint vocational school districts required to report career-technical education follow-up data in EMIS may review the students included in their 2023 CTE Follow-up Stdnt Draft. If the list is incorrect due to misreporting of concentrator data in EMIS, please review the guidance document for completing an appeal. Use the form in OH|ID titled Data Appeal for CTE Concentrator.

Note that all appeal forms in OH|ID must include corrected student level data in the FY23 Data Appeal--CTE Concentrator Template in the Upload Data section. To ensure your appeal is reviewed by the Department, make sure the spreadsheet is complete and accurate.

This is the only opportunity to update the 2023 CTE Follow-up List. Districts will be able to appeal placement and credential data during the Follow-Up appeal process after the initial Follow-Up window closes. However, there will be no changes to the list of students based upon district appeals after the Oct. 7 deadline.

The superintendent, EMIS coordinator, and superintendent designee have access to complete the appeal form. However, it is not officially submitted to the Department until the superintendent completes the approval process.

For questions regarding the data appeals process, please contact the Office of Data Quality.

For questions about CTE related data or calculations, please contact Kelsey.Stephens@education.ohio.gov and Greg.Woods@education.ohio.gov.

For questions about the data included in the CTE Follow-Up List, please contact your ITC for assistance or to have a ticket submitted to the EMIS helpdesk.

FY22 Report Card Data Review Closing
Today will be the last opportunity for superintendents to complete the required review of their 2022 student, assessment, calendar, staff, course, and career-technical education follow-up data reported in EMIS. EMIS Data Review and Verification forms are part of EMIS reporting described in Ohio Revised Code 3301.0714. Superintendents are legally required to review and certify the quality of data, as noted in Ohio Administrative Code 3301-14-01 (G). Failing to complete the process may trigger progressive sanctions as outlined in Ohio Administrative Code 3301-17.
