Supporting vocabulary and word comprehension in older students

4/10/2023

Morphology is the study of the internal structure of words. Focusing on morphology, along with the study of word syllables and an understanding of etymology, or word origins, is a key component of advanced word study for secondary students. Morphology can support older students’ vocabulary and reading comprehension. To learn more about morphology and how to implement it into middle and high school instruction across content areas, check out the video Morphology by Dr. Dianna Townsend from Literacy Academy 2021.
