Visiting Chinese Language Teachers from Taiwan Program applications due April 17

4/10/2023

The Department coordinates the Visiting Chinese Language Teachers from Taiwan Program in partnership with the Ministry of Education of Taiwan and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Chicago. The Department is accepting applications from schools or districts interested in taking part in the program during the 2023-2024 school year. This program places visiting language and immersion content educators from Taiwan in Ohio schools for up to two years. While promoting rich cross-cultural exchange, the program also allows Ohio schools to offer quality instruction in Chinese from native speakers.

The Department uses the information applicants provide to recruit highly qualified teachers from Taiwan in late April and early May. Teacher candidates have been rigorously prescreened by the Taiwanese Ministry of Education. These candidates also must qualify for Ohio’s Visiting International Teacher License in the content area they will teach. The Department is authorized by the U.S. Department of State’s BridgeUSA Program to sponsor the required J-1 visa.

To learn more about the program requirements and apply, interested school and district administrators can visit the Inbound Teacher Exchange Programs section of the Department’s International Teacher Exchanges webpage. The application deadline is April 17.

Interested district and school decision-makers should contact Ryan Wertz with any questions.
