New public comment opportunity for changes to EMIS guidelines

Ohio law allows EMIS users to review and provide public comment on new or updated EMIS guidelines. The Department recently posted a public comment opportunity for the following EMIS guidelines:

  • 25-1       Remove outdated program codes 520021 and 520022
  • 25-2       Update suggested subject area for credit for 153001 Financial Literacy
  • 25-8       Remove fiscal year 2024 specific Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment (OELPA) language
  • 25-15     Updates to Excuses for School Attendance
  • 25-16     Clarify Reporting of FC Record During Graduation Collection
  • 25-18     Update Valid Grade Levels for OELPA and Alternate-OELPA
  • 25-21     Remove elements from GI Record no longer needed
  • 25-25     Remove Staff ID Reporting from Work-Based Learning Program Codes
  • 25-26     Remove Early Learning Assessment Reporting Guidance
  • 25-28     Correct Language in Section 2.9 Referring to Course Type
  • 25-29     Clarify reporting of CORE Fine Arts Requirement Met
  • 25-30     Correct program code 151510
  • 25-31     Updates to Subject Area for Credit Options
  • 25-34     Modify descriptions for program codes 520205 and 520210
  • 25-35     Update reporting guidance for amended individualized education plan (IEP)
  • 25-45     Correct reporting guidance for STUKGBRDAY
  • 25-49     Update score option ‘MED’
  • 25-50     Update apprenticeship link in FW Record
  • 25-51     Update Military Student Identifier option ‘A’

The deadline to submit comments is Feb. 8. Complete details about the changes are available on the Fiscal Year 2025 EMIS Changes website. EMIS guidelines that are subject to change are posted on the Department’s website for 30 days for public comment and for an additional 30 days with the Department's response to comments. Finally, the public can review the changes for 30 more days before they are final.
