Ohio district receives U.S. Department of Energy CLASS Prize

The Ohio Department of Education congratulates East Cleveland City Schools for receiving the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Champions Leading the Advancement of Sustainable Schools (CLASS) Prize. East Cleveland City Schools was one of 25 schools and districts nationwide to receive the $100,000 Phase 1 prize. As a prize recipient, East Cleveland City Schools will use the funds to staff and train energy management positions. Energy managers will learn to identify, implement and maintain projects that will improve health and efficiency in their districts. In the future, East Cleveland City Schools may qualify for an additional $50,000 Phase 2 prize.
