Resources and office hours available for high quality instructional materials for English language arts and reading intervention program requirements

By the 2024-2025 school year, districts and schools must use English language arts core curriculum and reading intervention materials from the Department’s approved list.

A guidance document now is available to support districts with implementing this requirement. The guidance document includes information about subsidies for purchasing materials, practical advice for transitioning to using approved materials, and detailed information about supplemental materials.

ReadOhio office hours

The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce will host open office hours for the ReadOhio requirements each Friday 3-4 p.m.
 
The Department’s literacy policy team will take questions on topics including science of reading professional development, high-quality instructional materials, English language arts core curriculum requirements, reading intervention requirements, and high-dosage tutoring.
 
The first office hours session will take place Friday, March 15. Sessions will continue each Friday through April 26. Join the meeting via Microsoft Teams.
