Enter school safety student art contest by May 26

The Ohio School Safety Center and Ohio Student Safety Advisory Council are hosting a Safety Art Contest for students in grades 6-12. With a theme of What does school safety mean to you?, students may enter the following categories of art:

  • Painting
  • Drawing
  • Sculpture
  • Photography
  • Videography (three minutes maximum)
  • Literary (1,000 words maximum)
  • Mixed media/digital art

Art submissions must include a narrative section no longer than 250 words that explains the artwork. All physical artworks should be no larger than 36x48 inches. Contest organizers are collecting submissions digitally.

Email images of art or videos to OhioSchoolSafetyCenter@dps.ohio.gov before 5 p.m. May 26. Submissions should include the artist’s name, grade level, contact information, school district and category selection in the narrative portion of each submission.

The 2022-2023 Ohio Student Safety Advisory Council will select finalists and invite them to highlight their artwork at the 2023 Ohio School Safety Summit in Columbus July 25-26 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
