New report provides insight on experiences, perceptions, beliefs, behaviors of U.S. girls

Ruling Our eXperiences, Inc. (ROX) is a nonprofit organization focused on research and programming for girls. ROX recently released the 2023 Girls' Index by ROX,  the results of the largest national survey designed to develop a deeper understanding of the thoughts, experiences, perceptions, beliefs and behaviors of girls throughout the United States. The report provides insights to help adults understand the experiences of girls today and recommendations on how to better support and encourage girls.  

The 2023 survey included more than 17,500 girls in grades 5 through 12 throughout the United States. When compared to 2017, the 2023 data shows that girls reported lower levels of self-confidence, declined perceptions of their abilities and increased levels of stress, pressure, sadness and depression.
