Ohio Facilities Construction Commission recognized for LEED-certified school buildings

Recently, the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) was one of this year’s recipients for the Leadership Award for Organizational Excellence from the U.S. Green Building Council for building more environmentally friendly schools than anyone in the world during a Greenbuild International Conference in Washington, D.C.

The award recognizes organizations that have shown remarkable vision, leadership and a rock-solid commitment to pushing the green building industry forward. The award recognizes Ohio’s efforts in leading the way in creating schools that save energy and make learning environments healthier and more engaging for everyone.

The commission has built 621 Leadership in Energy and Design (LEED®) Ohio schools, creating a greener and healthier future for students, teachers and administrators. LEED® schools are designed to use 35% less energy and an average of 30% less water than other buildings.
