Ohio Evaluation System opens for setup Aug. 2

Superintendents and superintendent designees who are new to their districts should expect an email asking them to update their roles in the Ohio Educational Directory System (OEDS) by Oct. 6, 2023. Administrators who are in the same district also can make changes using their current login IDs and passwords.

Register now for the upcoming “All Students Can Read” instructional series focused on enhancing knowledge and skills in reading science, with special focus on addressing the unique needs of students with disabilities. The first session takes place Aug. 29.

Opportunity to join New Teacher Institute for First-Year Educators

The Council for Exceptional Children, in partnership with the Department, is seeking applicants for the second cohort of the New Teacher Institute, which offers guidance, support and resources specifically designed for first-year educators. Cohort members will receive a free, one-year membership. Visit the council’s website for to learn more and apply by Sept. 3.

ACT or SAT selection survey opens Aug. 14

Preview: On Aug. 14, superintendents and community school and chartered nonpublic school administrators will receive a survey link to indicate their selection of the ACT or SAT for the class of 2025. Visit the Department’s updated state-funded tests webpages for more information.

Ohio’s back-to-school sales tax holiday is Aug. 4-6

Ohio’s sales tax holiday is an opportunity to buy school supplies and other necessities tax-free. The tax holiday begins Aug. 4 at midnight and ends Aug. 6 at 11:59 p.m.
