New public comment opportunity for changes to EMIS guidelines

Ohio law allows EMIS users to review and provide public comment on new or updated EMIS guidelines. The Department recently posted a public comment opportunity for the following EMIS guidelines:

  • 24-14     Updates to include collection of alternate Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment (OELPA)
  • 24-17     Review and revision of EMIS Manual Chapter 3
  • 24-33     Updates to expulsion reporting
  • 24-53     Collect district student information software
  • 24-62     Adds kindergarten survey data to EMIS
  • 24-63     Updates to percent of time for preschool and kindergarten
  • 24-71     Updates Score Not Reported options for End of Course (EOC) tests
  • 24-75     Adds program codes for non-public student competency
  • 24-80     Corrects a link in Section 2.1
  • 24-81     Clarifies preschool poverty level reporting
  • 24-82     Updates withdrawal reporting guidance
  • 24-83     Corrections to table in Section 5.3
  • 24-84     Updates EMIS Manual Section 1.3
  • 24-87     Updates Immigrant Status reporting instructions
  • 24-34     Collect Special Education Related Services data (closes June 8)

The deadline to submit comments is June 3. Complete details about the changes are available on the Fiscal Year 2024 EMIS Changes website. EMIS guidelines that are subject to change are posted on the Department’s website for 30 days for public comment and for an additional 30 days with the Department's response to comments. Finally, the public can review the changes for 30 more days before they are final. Send comments on proposed changes to EMISPublicComments@education.ohio.gov.
