The Ohio Department of Education has received more than 250 letters of intent so far from educators, schools and districts that plan to apply for Straight A Fund awards. I’m excited about this response because it confirms what I have always believed – there are many Ohio educators and administrators out there thinking of innovative ways to improve student learning and reduce operational costs so they can channel more money into their classrooms.
If your district plans to pursue Straight A Funds alone or as part of a consortium, remember that the deadline for indicating your intent to apply is Oct. 4 and you must submit your formal application sometime between Oct. 14 and Oct. 25 through the CCIP.

I am pleased to announce that Ohio’s new $250 million Straight A Fund is open for business!
Ohio educators and administrators—and their public and private partners—can download the Straight A Fund grant application and supporting documents here and begin telling us their ideas for innovations that will help speed Ohio’s education system farther into the 21st century.
The Straight A Fund is the largest state program dedicated to promoting teaching and learning innovation in the history of U.S. education, and we think the real winners will be Ohio’s boys and girls.
The grant awards will put power in the hands of local educators and districts to bring about innovative, sustainable change that will better prepare our students for college and workforce success.
