INFOhio offers new one-stop searching with ISearch

Students and teachers doing research are faced with a hard choice: spend hours searching library catalogs and digital collections one by one to find quality information, which eats into time for the more important work of analyzing, synthesizing, and creating; or take a shortcut and search the Internet knowing there’s a risk of finding resources that are inaccurate and possibly even unsafe.

But now, with the release of INFOhio's ISearch, students no longer need to make that choice. ISearch makes finding quality, vetted resources for school research easier.

Department announces $2.5 Million planning grant for Adult Career Opportunity Pilot Programs

Dr. Richard A. Ross, state superintendent of public instruction, is pleased to announce a funding opportunity for the development of Adult Career Opportunity Pilot Programs. As many as five community colleges, state community colleges, Ohio technical centers or technical colleges around the state will receive up to $500,000 each in planning grant funds in fiscal year 2015 to develop their own Adult Career Opportunity Pilot Program.

National School Lunch Week is Oct. 13-17

First Lady Karen Kasich visited the students of Starling STEM Pre-8 School on October 13 in Columbus to celebrate National School Lunch Week. Mrs. Kasich served meals to the students, and spent time talking with them about the importance of choosing nutritious foods and being active.

National School Lunch Week 2014 is Oct. 13-17 with the theme of “Get in the Game with School Lunch.” The goal is to encourage kids to find a balance between healthy eating and physical activity.

Workers’ comp rebates approved, schools getting $44.3 million

School districts will receive an estimated $44.3 million in workers’ compensation rebates in coming weeks because of Another Billion Back, a plan that’s returning $1 billion in rebates to public-taxing districts and private employers. Gov. John Kasich and Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Administrator/CEO Steve Buehrer announced it in August.
