Training to assist with value-added roster verification

Principals, school leaders, trainers, teachers and educational service center staff members will benefit from free training tailored to their roles in the annual roster verification process for value-added reporting. The department is offering webinars for each of these groups — and in addition is hosting in-person sessions for principals and other administrators who are new to value-added reporting.

Registration is now open for groups wanting to be a part of the 2016 "We Are The Majority" Youth Rally and Resiliency Ring slated for April 28 in downtown Columbus. The event, hosted by the Ohio Youth-Led Prevention Network in partnership with YouthMOVE Ohio, is free and includes lunch. Register by April 8 to guarantee a spot and receive a T-shirt. The Ohio Department of Education invites Ohioans to submit suggestions through April 5 as part of a periodic revision process for Ohio’s Learning Standards in English language arts and math. This feedback will help ensure the standards continue reflecting the most recent research and the experience of educators as they help students become ready for college and careers.

Here’s an important reminder about Curriculum Choice

Students electing to use Curriculum Choice to meet graduation requirements must make that decision and complete a Student Success Plan during their third year of high school. Curriculum Choice allows students to be excused from taking advanced science and Algebra II. See Ohio Curriculum Choices for further details.
