Clarification on accessibility and accommodations for new state tests

Here is information about the current state of assessment and support for Ohio’s students.

This year’s value-added roster verification to involve more teachers and principals

This week, superintendents at traditional districts and community schools will be receiving a message from Superintendent Ross requesting that they confirm their participation in value-added roster verification by March 6. Participating in roster verification is the best way for districts and schools to ensure that value-added measures for next school year’s educator evaluations accurately reflect the influence of each teacher’s instruction on student progress.

Nominations open for Outstanding State School Nurse Consultant Achievement Award

Online forms are now available to nominate your state school nurse consultant for the Outstanding State School Nurse Consultant Achievement Award. The National Association of State School Nurse Consultants, Inc., has established this award to publically recognize the contributions of state school nurse consultants by honoring one consultant annually who has demonstrated excellence in the role.

Regional meeting resources available

College Credit Plus program information and FAQs available

College Credit Plus is Ohio’s new system for dual enrollment. It replaces previous programs, including Post-Secondary Enrollment Options, and has been expanded to cover students beginning in the seventh grade.

College Credit Plus will be operational in the 2015-2016 school year, but schools are required to take steps now to make communities aware of these options and to help students navigate their opportunities for the coming year. College Credit Plus also is open to students in nonpublic schools.

New information needed in school safety plans

New rules governing the creation and submission of school safety plans went into effect Jan. 5. If you are an administrator of a school that already has a plan on file, you will now need to fulfill new, additional requirements to remain compliant with regulations. If you are an administrator of a school or other facility that provides educational services to children and have never submitted a safety plan, you are now required to do so.
