Data review and appeal windows open for 2016 student and assessment data

Now through Wednesday, Aug. 10, superintendents of traditional districts, community schools, STEM districts and educational service centers may conduct their required review of their student and assessment data submitted in EMIS. These data will affect many measures on the 2016 Ohio School Report Cards.

Register for this week’s ESSA webinar: State assessments using nationally-recognized high school academic assessments

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) provides possible flexibility for states in assessing high school students by allowing local districts to use a locally-selected, nationally recognized academic assessment in lieu of the state high school academic tests.

Resident Educator registration opens Aug. 8

Program coordinators for the Ohio Resident Educator Program may begin the required annual registration process for their resident educators in the Connected Ohio Records for Educators (CORE) system beginning Aug. 8 through Nov. 15.

Set-up begins Aug. 8 for electronic Teacher and Principal Evaluation System (eTPES)

On Aug. 8, superintendents or their designees may begin conducting their set-up within the electronic Teacher and Principal Evaluation System (eTPES). We ask that superintendents and superintendent designees who are new to their districts ensure that their role designations and email addresses are current in the Ohio Educational Directory System by Friday, Aug. 5. These individuals will receive an email message with login information during the week of Aug. 8.

As your district or school considers new additions to your School Emergency Management Plan, you may be evaluating the need and cost of safe rooms. A safe room provides shelter and protection in the event of a tornado or severe weather.
