Data review and appeal windows open for 2017 graduation and Prepared for Success data

Beginning Monday, Oct. 23 through Friday, Nov. 3, superintendents may conduct the required review of their 2017 Graduation and Prepared for Success data submitted in EMIS. These data will impact the graduation rate and Prepared for Success data on the 2018 report card.

One percent alternate assessment justification portal opens Oct. 25 through Dec. 1

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires each district or community school to submit a justification when it expects to test more than 1 percent of its students using the Alternate Assessment for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities (AASCD). If your district expects to test more than 1 percent of your students using the alternate assessment, you must submit the online justification, by Dec. 1, 2017, via the link emailed to the district superintendent.

Ohio Alternate Assessment Participation Waiver public comment period open through Nov. 18

A new provision in Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), addresses alternate assessments for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Each state must submit a waiver request to the United States Department of Education if it predicts exceeding 1 percent participation in the alternate assessment in a subject.

These free guidebooks spotlight the use of value-added data to impact teaching and learning. The guidebooks help develop knowledge of how to interpret and use a variety of value-added reports to inform professional practices, using sample value-added, diagnostic and projection reports, combined with reflective scenarios.
