ESEA Flexibility Waiver renewal: What to Expect for the Upcoming School Year

The Ohio Department of Education invites your district to participate in a webinar on changes to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) flexibility waiver. Department staff members will provide an overview of the ESEA waiver and highlight the changes. Staff will address participant questions to help Support Districts and Support Schools (identified through the ESEA waiver renewal) plan for the upcoming school year.

Deadline extended to July 2 for EMIS supplementary graduation rate data forms

The 2014-2015 Ohio School Report Card will include both the four-year adjusted cohort graduation rate for the graduating class of 2014 and the five-year adjusted cohort graduation rate for the graduating class of 2013. Both rates will be on the report card and used in accountability calculations.

Make updates to board-approved five-year forecasts by May 31

All city, local, exempted village and joint vocational school districts are required to submit an updated five-year forecast by May 31. The forecast should be approved by your board and submitted electronically through EMIS. For instructions on submitting your forecast, click here.

Catastrophic Cost application deadline imminent

By now, all districts and community schools should have created online applications in the Catastrophic Cost system. Schools that qualify for reimbursement but have not yet started an application must contact Scott Bennington immediately. In order for the state to process reimbursements in June, the Catastrophic Cost application system will close at midnight on May 29.
