Teacher roster verification begins Wednesday; no extensions for principal approval deadline

On, Wednesday, April 19, teachers with value-added data at districts participating in roster verification will receive emails to help them begin their parts of this vital process. These educators have until May 9 to verify their rosters. Principals may approve rosters as teachers complete them, but please note that principals must complete all approvals by May 25. There will be no deadline extensions.

2016-2017 Special Education Profiles available to the public

Every year, each school district receives a Special Education Profile displaying the district's performance on key indicators established by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Some of the indicators measure procedural compliance with IDEA, while others measure results for students with disabilities.

State Board of Education recommends additional high school graduation options for 2018

On April 11, the State Board of Education recommended that Ohio lawmakers create additional options for earning high school diplomas for students in the class of 2018. The Board-proposed options would be offered to Ohio students who entered the ninth grade for the first time between July 1, 2014, and July 1, 2015.

Gifted self-report due July 15

The annual Self Report on Identification and Services for Students Who are Gifted is now available. District superintendents were provided a link to the survey via email on Thursday, April 13. This required report provides information that the Department uses to develop resources and professional development. The report is due no later than July 15.
