Ohio law requires schools to provide vision and hearing screening, contract with any person or governmental entity to provide the screening or request the guardian to obtain a screening from a provider selected by the guardian.
The Ohio Department of Health offers free hearing and vision screening training for school nurses and screening volunteers to help address barriers that prevent students from engaging in learning. Participants will learn about common hearing and vision disorders, understand Ohio’s vision and hearing screening requirements, and receive hands-on training with screening equipment.

Seats are open for Ohio educators to join the next cohort of Project ASSETS, Accelerating Student Success for ELs Through Scaffolded Support (Project ASSETS). Project ASSETS is a free English learner professional learning series that supports content teachers by providing practical knowledge and networking about ways to improve teaching English learners, develop formative assessments, and partner with families. Participants gain knowledge about the English language proficiency standards in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
