Suggest industry credentials for students to earn by Aug. 30

The Ohio Department of Education, in collaboration with the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, has developed a new application process for submitting industry-recognized credentials to the approved list for graduation. Applications are due Aug. 30.

Updates about career-technical data collection and reporting — deadlines extended

Due to the circumstances facing many of Ohio’s secondary schools, the Office of Career-Technical Education has determined the following course of action in the best interest of Ohio’s career-technical education students from the Fiscal Year 2020 school year. This plan was developed in cooperation with the Office of Data Quality and Governance and Center on Education and Training for Employment (CETE) at The Ohio State University.

Learn about partnerships in STEM and STEAM on Aug. 4

The Ohio Department of Education, Ohio STEM Learning Network and Summit Educational Service Center invite school leaders on Aug. 4 from 1-2:30 p.m. to learn how partnerships deepen the education experience for students and the community. Participants will learn the role of partnerships in STEM from the Quality Model for STEM and STEAM schools, what a partnership is, and brainstorm and share potential partnerships based on curriculum, events and community needs.

The Office of Community Schools has posted the application for districts, educational service centers, state universities and other educationally oriented organizations interested in serving as community schools sponsor starting in the 2021-2022 school year. Applications are due Dec. 31, 2020.
