New Rules for Public Comment

The Department regularly posts rules for public comment. Recently, rules related to the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship and standards for measuring sponsor compliance opened for comment.

Registration open for Military Signing Day event for Ohio high school students

On Tuesday, March 12, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, in partnership with schools and communities, will host Military Signing Day for Ohio's students committed to military service at the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus. Students in grades 11 and 12 who have committed to military service are invited to attend. Registration closes March 1 or when seating is full.

Governor DeWine announces $85 million in federal funding for new Appalachian Community Innovation Centers program

K-12 school districts, joint vocational school districts, regional councils of government, or other political subdivisions located in the 32 Ohio Appalachian counties may apply for funding. The application period ends March 21.

Spring 2025 ACT and SAT testing dates posted, upcoming College Board SAT office hours

State law requires districts and community schools to administer the state-funded ACT or SAT to all grade 11 students in the spring of the school year. However, beginning in spring 2025, Ohio law allows a parent or guardian to elect for their student not to take the state-funded ACT or SAT. In addition, College Board is hosting Spring Digital SAT office hours via Zoom on Thursdays.
