Ohio teachers selected to teach in Taiwan

Three Ohio teachers were selected for the Teaching in Taiwan program and are spending a year teaching English. Kristin Moore, from Columbus; Tory Shephard, from Canton; and Tracy St. John, from Ashland are joining other selected U.S. teachers for this unique opportunity.

EasyTech Online Safety Curriculum available free to all Ohio schools again this year

Thanks to funding through the Ohio Department of Education, Ohio public and private schools will again have free access to the EasyTech Online Safety Curriculum that meets CIPA and E-Rate safety training requirements. New this year is the Digital Citizenship App that provides quick instruction on online safety, cyberbullying and ethical use of digital resources through three engaging lessons and a quiz. Ohio receives ESEA flexibility waiver extension from USDOE

The U.S. Department of Education notified the Ohio Department of Education Friday that it has accepted Ohio’s application for a one-year Elementary and Secondary Education Act flexibility waiver extension.

Interest surveys now available for the Competency-Based Education and Innovative Learning Pilot Programs

The Competency-Based Education Pilot program will allow for five school or educational service center-led consortia to plan and implement competency-based programs during the pilot (2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019 school years).

The Innovative Learning Pilot program will allow ten school districts in Ohio selected by the department to develop and administer their own standardized tests under the department’s federal waiver.
