2022 NAEP Results Released
The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) released the nationwide performance results from the 2022 assessments in reading and mathematics on October 24, 2022. The NAEP is administered every two years to students in grades four and eight across the nation. In early 2022 446,000 students nationwide participated in the NAEP. Approximately 9,700 Ohio students participated in the assessments. Ohio students scored above the national public-school average in both fourth-grade and eighth-grade mathematics and not significantly different than the national average in reading. Similar to national results, Ohio scores declined for all assessments when compared to 2019. The complete snapshot reports on Ohio student performance can be found at the NAEP web page on the Department website.
