Transition to Ohio Department of Education and Workforce

Recent legislation changes mandated changes to the structure and responsibilities of the State Board of Education and the Department of Education. The Department of Education is now the Department of Education and Workforce, a cabinet-level agency reporting to the governor. Additional information on the changes will be communicated through EdConnection and the Department’s website.

Districts and schools will begin to see the updated name and logo for the Department on assessment materials, documents, websites, and systems over the coming months. Some printed materials for the spring testing administrations will not include the new name and logo depending on when they are printed.

iPad OS 17 Support

Cambium Assessment has completed its review of iPadOS 17. This operating system is now supported beginning with v17.1. If your devices are on v17.0, you will need to update them to v17.1. A new Secure Browser is not needed for this operating system and no additional action is required.

Assessment Authoring

Assessment Authoring has been updated to allow teachers to choose the type of student testing experience for authored tests. Educators can now choose between the Ohio State Tests experience (requiring students to complete the test the same day they start it), the Readiness Assessment experience (students may pause and resume the test anytime within seven days), or the Alternate Assessment for Students with the Most Significant Cognitive Disabilities experience (a full-screen layout where students may pause and resume the test anytime within the school year).

In addition, a new feature allows teachers to add multiple items at one time when they are building a test in the Assessment Authoring system. The Assessment Authoring User Guide has been updated with information about this new functionality.

Upcoming Scheduled Maintenance

The next maintenance period is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9, beginning at 9 a.m. and may last up to 24 hours.
