Review of Test Status Requests
District test coordinators (DTCs) and district administrators may submit test status requests in
TIDE to reset, reopen, or invalidate a test opportunity. There have been some questions about when to reset a test and when to invalidate a test.
- A test should be reset if a school inadvertently administers the Ohio English Language Proficiency Screener (OELPS) to a student who already has been identified as an English learner or to a student who is not a potential English learner.
- A test should be invalidated if a student cheats or a test administration is compromised.
Please refer to the
OELPS Test Coordinator Manual page 23 for a description of the different test status requests. The deadline for submitting test status requests for the 2023-2024 OELPS is June 28, 2024.
Ohio English Language Proficiency Assessment (OELPA) Spring On-time Order Window
The on-time order window for OELPA paper tests is open in
TIDE Nov. 13-17. DTCs place orders under the “Paper Orders OELPA Spring 2024” administration task in TIDE. All orders require a reason for the use of paper tests and are subject to Department approval.
Spring 2023 Alt-OELPA Results
Students’ 2023 Alt-OELPA results are scheduled to be reported Oct. 23, 2023. DTCs will be notified by email when students’ results are available. In subsequent years, Alt-OELPA results are planned to be reported in May following the test window. For the 2023-2024 school year only, the Department provides information to assist schools enrolling English learners who were administered the Alt-OELPA last year. Under

Alt-OELPA webpage, see Alt-OELPA Results and Information on English Learners for School Year 2023-2024.
