Ohio’s State Tests (OSTs)

3/28/2024

Spring Testing is now!

All testing, including make-up testing, must be completed within the district’s or school’s 15 consecutive school day windows.
  • English Language Arts (ELA) test window closes April 26.
    • Additional order window closes April 24.
  • Mathematics, science, and social studies test window: April 1-May 10.
    • Additional order window closes May 8.
Manuals and scripts that must be used when administering the tests are in the Resources section of the test portal. Districts using paper tests must return materials immediately after the district’s test window closes. Districts must return any late ELA materials no later than April 29; and mathematics, science, and social studies materials no later than May 13.

Request Printed Family Reports

Printed OST family reports and score report labels will only be sent to those districts that request them in TIDE by May 10. Printed family reports and labels will be delivered on July 23 to only districts that request them. If a district does not want to receive printed family reports or score reporting labels, no action is required. Districts may download or print Individual Student Reports in the Centralized Reporting System (CRS) to satisfy the June 30 statutory reporting date requirement.

Deadline to Download OST Spring High School ELA Participation Reports

The ELA test window closes April 26. Due to the extension of the ELA test window only for Dropout Prevention and Recovery (DOPR) students, a few Monitoring Test Progress reports will not reflect ELA II students who were marked eligible but did not complete the tests by April 26.
  • Plan and Manage Testing: Under “Get Specific” when using the first radio button, reports generated when selecting students who “have not” started or completed will only show those ELA II students marked for DOPR.
  • Test Status Code Reports: Tests without a status (meaning not yet started) will only include ELA II students marked for DOPR.
  • Test Completion Rates: The “Total Student” column for ELA II will be the sum of students who completed the test anytime in the standard or extended windows plus DOPR marked students who have not yet completed the test. The “Total Student Started” and “Total Student Completed” columns for ELA II will be based on all tests administered anytime in the standard or extended windows.

Districts that wish to retain information about non-DOPR ELA II students who did not complete testing within the standard window will need to run these reports no later than Friday, April 26.

DOPR Extended Test Window

The OST ELA II online test window is extended to May 10 for DOPR community schools to test their students. This extension to the test window is only for those students who are in a DOPR program who have not already tested during the ELA test window, March 25-April 26. DOPR schools were sent an email detailing actions needed for online and paper testing. For further information regarding DOPR, please contact the Office of Community Schools.

2024-2025 Grade 3 Board Resolution Deadline May 1, 2024

ORC 3301.0711(G)(4) allows districts the option to choose paper or online test administration for the third-grade state assessments. A district or school can choose to administer all or some of the following third-grade tests via paper test forms: OST ELA, OST mathematics, AASCD ELA, and/or AASCD mathematics. If a district or school plans to administer third-grade tests via paper during the 2024-2025 school year, the district or school must complete this survey and submit a resolution approved by the district’s school board or governing authority. All data and PDF copies of board or governing authority resolutions must be submitted via the survey by May 1, 2024. Please note that a Google account is necessary to access this form. If there are questions about accessing or submitting the form, please contact Ohio Meetings at ohiomeetings@cambiumassessment.com.
