This section provides an overview of key concepts, research and models of reading development. Courses are designed to benefit any educator who supports literacy instruction across the K-12 grade band.
Courses
Grades K-5
The early grades are a critical time for students to learn the foundational skills associated with reading and improve on those skills. Educators play a critical role in supporting all students to learn to read and identifying and supporting students who struggle to read. These courses can benefit teachers, coaches, directors and administrators who support classroom instruction, and any educator who wants to learn more about literacy in the elementary grades.

Reading instruction should not end after elementary school. All educators in middle and high school, including content area teachers, can play a significant role in improving students' reading, writing and communication. These courses can benefit teachers, coaches, directors and administrators who support classroom instruction, and any educator who wants to learn more about adolescent literacy.

Building and district leadership plays a significant role in ensuring that systems are in place to support successful literacy instruction for all students. The following courses are designed for building and district administration, coaches, directors and other educators who play a significant role in the determining the direction of literacy instruction at their building or district.
