Release of Spring 2023 Test Items

Released items from the spring 2023 Ohio’s State Tests have been added to the Student Practice Site. The items give educators insight into the kinds of questions students experienced and are a useful tool to inform classroom instruction and assessment. Both teachers and parents can use the items to help students know what to expect. Along with the released items are the Item Release Scoring Guides. Please see the Spring 2023 Released Items article in the Back-to-School Supplement issue of the newsletter for more information about using the spring 2023 released items and scoring guides.
 

Readiness Assessments

The Readiness Assessments (RAs) – composed of Benchmark and Checkpoint tests – include updated content. Please refer to the Readiness Assessments article in the Back-to-School Supplement issue of the newsletter.
 

Assessment Authoring

The Ohio Department of Education (Department) and Cambium Assessment offer a new system: Assessment Authoring. This flexible and user-friendly system enables teachers to create their own tests from a large bank of Ohio test questions, administer these tests to their students using the familiar Test Delivery System, and view results in the Centralized Reporting System (CRS). The system is available on the same test portal used to access other Cambium Assessment systems. A user guide and training presentations are available in the Resources section of the test portal to help users become familiar with the new system. Summer Results and Rescore and Verification Window

Results for the summer tests are available in the CRS.  Review the Rescores and Verifications Guidance document for instructions. Requests may be placed in TIDE through Sept.15.
 

Fall Grade 3 English Language Arts (ELA) and High School End-of-Course (EOC) Tests On-Time Order Window

  • The fall grade 3 ELA test administration window is Oct. 16-Nov. 3.
  • The grade 3 ELA on-time order window in TIDE is Aug. 15-21.
  • The grade 3 ELA on-time materials will be delivered on Oct. 2.
  • The fall high school EOC ELA, mathematics, science and social studies test administration window is Nov. 27, 2023-Jan. 12, 2024.
  • The high school EOC on-time order window in TIDE is Sept. 5-11.
  • The high school EOC on-time materials will be delivered on Nov. 20.
 
All orders are subject to Department approval. District test coordinators (DTCs) must complete the steps in the Fall 2023 OST Supplemental Instructions for Paper Testing manual.
