Future Forward Ohio highlights successful best practices as districts support literacy achievement

4/3/2023

Future Forward Ohio seeks to share best practices being implemented by districts and educational service centers across the state as they support student recovery from the impact of the pandemic.

The most recent Future Forward Ohio Spotlight on Ohio Schools and Districts features Port Clinton City School District and its use of emergency relief funds to increase student reading proficiency. The district hired two literacy specialists and saw improvement across all state testing since 2021.

A previous Future Forward Ohio spotlight featured Dayton Public Schools in a video highlighting the district's use of emergency relief funds to help improve student learning. The site also features a video showing how two educational service centers and a consortium of schools worked together to provide driver’s education for students, a major obstacle on the path to workforce development in their region.

Educators are invited to share their strategic and innovative initiatives to help Ohio's students recover from the impact of the pandemic. Educators can tell the Department about promising practices in their districts by completing this brief survey on the Spotlight on Ohio Schools and Districts webpage. The Department may feature the stories as Future Forward Ohio spotlights.
