Join us in celebrating the Month of the Military Family and Veterans Day

Military members and their families share in the sacrifices and hardship that military service brings. To honor these dedicated individuals, we celebrate November as the Month of the Military Family and recognize Veterans Day (Nov. 11).
The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce has programs and resources to support veterans and military families. These include:

• Encouraging and supporting veterans to become Ohio K-12 teachers through the Troops to Teachers Program.
• Assisting with the implementation of the Interstate Compact on Education Opportunity for Military Children that lowers education barriers for military-connected students.
• Supporting the enrollment of students from active duty families with advanced enrollment.
• Providing professional development and support to more than 500 Military Family Liaisons as part of the Purple Star Program.
• Participating in celebrations of the Month of the Military Family and Veterans Day is one of the activities that schools can complete to earn the Purple Star designation.
• Soon offering state-specific programming for veterans and their spouses interested in teaching and non-teaching positions through the Ohio Military Veteran Educators Program.
