16 Ohio Schools Named 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized 325 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2021, including 16 schools in Ohio. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

Oberlin City Schools Teacher Named 2022 Ohio Teacher of the Year

Kurt Russell, a social studies teacher at Oberlin High School in Oberlin City Schools, has been named the 2022 Ohio Teacher of the Year. State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria made the surprise public announcement during a schoolwide assembly today at Oberlin High School.

Ohio Department of Education Awards Purple Star Schools  for Demonstrating Commitment to Military Families

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria today announced that 68 Ohio schools will be honored with the Purple Star Award this school year. The award recognizes a school’s commitment to serving and supporting students and families connected to the United States armed forces and Ohio National Guard. Ohio Department of Education Announces 21st Century Community Learning Center Grantees

The Ohio Department of Education today announced the grantees awarded federal funding for the 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) program. The program creates or expands community learning centers that provide academic enrichment and youth development opportunities for students who attend predominantly high-poverty and low-performing schools.
