State Leaders Release Recommendations to Improve Statewide Student Attendance

Today, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, Supreme Court of Ohio Chief Justice Sharon Kennedy, Interim Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Chris Woolard and other partners highlighted Ohio’s commitment to improving school attendance statewide during the Ohio Takes the Pledge to Stay in the Game! event held at the Columbus City Preparatory School for Girls. During the event, members of the Ohio Attendance Taskforce announced recommendations to improve school attendance and reduce chronic absence.

New Star Rating System Included in Today’s Ohio School Report Cards Release

The Ohio Department of Education today will release the 2023 Ohio School Report Cards. New this year, schools and districts will receive overall ratings of 1-5 stars in half-star increments. The report cards also include five rated components and various report-only data.

Ohio Schools Recognized for Commitment to Serving Students in Military Families

The Ohio Department of Education today announces 165 Ohio schools are receiving the Purple Star designation as members of the Purple Star Class of 2023. Purple Star schools show a significant commitment to serving students and families connected to our nation’s armed forces. Eighty-eight Ohio schools received the esteemed award for the first time, and 77 schools earned a renewal after three years as dedicated Purple Star schools.
