The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce encourages arts educators to use the standards and model curriculum to develop the creative imagination, skills, and dispositions that students need in order to be challenged to discover and learn, prepared to pursue a fulfilling post-high school path, and empowered to become a resilient lifelong learner who contributes to society. Education in the arts is essential to support the Department vision and mission and education priorities.
The Learning Standards and Model Curriculum address the education priorities of literacy, accelerated learning, student wellness, and workforce readiness in several ways.
