ACT or SAT Selection Survey Opened Aug. 14, 2023

Districts and community schools shall administer the required state-sponsored college and career readiness test in spring to their juniors. Districts, community schools, and chartered nonpublic schools are given the opportunity to choose either the ACT or SAT in the annual ACT/SAT selection survey. The survey was sent by Management Council on August 14th to district superintendents and community and chartered nonpublic school administrators with a survey link to indicate their selection of the ACT or SAT for the class of 2025. The survey will be open until Sept. 15. The survey asks school leaders to confirm that they will give the same test given in spring 2023 or choose another test for 2024. This year school leaders will be asked to verify district and building level information in the survey. Additional information  is located on the Department web pages for ACT and SAT.

The ACT and SAT vendors will contact participating districts in late October. Direct questions about the survey to Michael Reiser.

WorkKeys Testing and Reimbursement Requirements

WorkKeys is an industry-recognized, application-based assessment used to measure work readiness and can be used to satisfy components of Ohio’s graduation requirements. The Department will reimburse districts for each student to take all three parts of the test one time.

Schools that plan to administer WorkKeys and want to receive reimbursement must register with the Department and ACT. Upon signing the participation agreement, schools will receive a realm ID that is part of the state testing contract. To begin the WorkKeys registration process, please contact Katie Hahn. For more information on WorkKeys testing and reimbursement, visit the Reimbursement for WorkKeys Tests page on the Department’s website.

Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for List of Approved Assessments

The Department is seeking assistance notifying and encouraging vendors to apply for inclusion on the List of Approved Assessments for the 2024-2025 school year. The Department anticipates posting a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) this fall for vendors wishing to apply. The approval process screens third-party developed assessments for specific purposes defined in Ohio law. The Department is asking DTCs to reach out to vendors regarding instruments not already on the list that their district uses or would like to use. Vendors can access the Vendor Contact Information Form to ensure they are notified when the RFQ posts. DTCs can also use the Vendor Referral Form to ask the Department to contact the vendor with information about the RFQ process.

For questions, please contact ApprovedAssessments@education.ohio.gov.
