Everyday Ohio Heroes Award and youth art contest bring awareness to National Child Abuse Prevention Month

12/12/2022

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund is getting ready for an impactful 2023 campaign. This year’s theme is “Be a Hero in the Eyes of a Child – one simple act of encouragement at a time.” To prepare, the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund is seeking Everyday Ohio Heroes Award nominees and youth art contest entries.

Help the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund promote strong communities, healthy families and safe children by nominating an individual or community group for the Everyday Ohio Heroes Award. The Ohio Children’s Trust Fund established the Everyday Ohio Hero Awards to honor individuals who dedicate their time, efforts or lives to preventing child abuse and child neglect. An Everyday Ohio Hero is an individual or group who has made a significant impact on child abuse and child neglect prevention through their everyday acts. The Everyday Ohio Hero Awards will recognize outstanding adults, youth and community volunteer groups or corporate groups in each of the eight child abuse and neglect prevention regions in Ohio. This year, submit nominations using the Everyday Ohio Heroes Nomination form. The nomination deadline is Jan. 20, 2023, at 3 p.m.

The Ohio Children’s Trust Fund invites youth in grades 5-12 to develop powerful and creative artistic expressions that demonstrate that anyone can “Be a Hero in the Eyes of a Child.” Judges will be looking for bold, innovative and exciting pieces to help educate the public about child abuse and neglect prevention and inspire them to action. Find rules and submission forms on the contest webpage.
