School-based health supports student wellness and contributes to academic success

 February is National School-based Health Care Awareness Month. School-based health plays a critical role in removing barriers to learning and contributing to overall school success. Healthy children are more likely to attend school ready to learn and achieve at higher academic levels.
 
The increased demand for school-based health services, including mental health services, has highlighted the need for wellness supports in schools, which may include school-based health centers or other school-based health supports.
