Opportunity to serve as an intermediary for Ohio’s High School Tech Internship

11/7/2022

The High School Tech Internship v3.0 program is a competitive opportunity for Ohio employers to receive reimbursement for hosting high school interns in tech-related roles and establishing a recruitment pipeline. Educational entities will work closely with business partners to apply for this program beginning in January 2023.

The High School Tech Internship program has a solid foundation and worthy mission. However, this program requires significant time and resources from education and business partners. To alleviate these procedural barriers, Ohio is seeking the assistance of an intermediary organization.

The intermediary will administer the program by serving as the single point of contact to support business and educational entities. The intermediary may oversee and facilitate hiring, recruitment, training and onboarding. It also may serve as the employer of record for the High School Tech Internship Pilot. The intermediary must help facilitate the process of placing high school students in internships that lead to in-demand IT careers. These career fields may include cybersecurity, software development, IT infrastructure and other technology-focused roles. This support will begin with the intern recruitment process and last through the end of a student’s placement, including assisting with closeout paperwork and reporting.

Interested organizations must send completed applications by 4:59 p.m. Nov. 22. Find the Request for Applications (RFA) and Application Template on the High School Tech Internship webpage. Send applications and direct questions to high_school_tech_internship@development.ohio.gov.
